" VATROSTALNA" DD IOTP Zenica is located in the region of Bosnia and Herzegowina where the industry and trade is best developped – i.e. in the industrial zone of Zenica, some 70 km from Sarajevo, and some 80 km from Doboj, and is characterized by the biggest metallurgical combinate in former SFRJ (Yugoslavia) – “ZELJEZARA ZENICA” which today exists under the name “BH Steel Zeljezara Zenica” along with the brown coal mines Zenica.

The leading industries in the vicinity are: mining (coal mining) Power Plants (Electricity), production of rolled, forged and cast metal products, metal finishing industries, production of car spare parts and other parts for the car industry, wood working industries (Saw mills and such like) construction industry, and factories for producing implements for the construction industry.

Not very far – nearby – are vast capacities for basic chemical production (Coke and Chemical Combinat Lukavac, Detergent Factory DITA Tuzla, Distillary Teslic, Natron Maglaj), coal mines (brown coal mines in Kakanj, Breza, Tuzla) Power Plants (Production of Electrical Power) (Thermoelectrical Plants in Kakanj and Tuzla), Ironworks Ilijas, Vares etc.
